Have you Considered Outsourcing? (My other life)

Hi everyone,

This blog post isn’t about quilting; what happened to the quilting posts?

Never fear, Dear Reader, you’re reading the right blog.  Today I’m introducing you to the other part of me.  You may be aware that as well as quilting, teaching quilting, pattern testing and editing, I run a virtual assistant practice.  Today over at my VA website, I wrote a post about the benefits of outsourcing so I thought I would share it here as well, to give you an insight to what a VA does and how small businesses can benefit from working with one.

I particularly love working with creative women to assist them in reclaiming their time, so if you would like to contact me about how I can help you, please do via this link.

Happy quilting!

The virtual assistant industry in Australia continues to grow.  There are many, many small and medium businesses that are seeing the benefit of outsourcing their administrative tasks to a qualified virtual assistant.

So, what does a VA do, and why would you and your business benefit from engaging the services of an Australian virtual assistant?

A virtual assistant is an independent contractor, who works in partnership with you to help you with tasks that you don’t have the time or skill to do yourself.  This frees you up to work on the tasks which you are skilled at and which add value to your clients.

The benefit of working with a VA is that you can work with them for only the specific tasks and time you need, so you don’t have to engage a full-time staff member if you know you only need a task completed once per month.  I have three levels of monthly subscription packages available so you’re sure to find on that suits your needs.

VAs are specialists in their fields.  Common areas of speciality include a variety of Administrative and Professional support ranging from: bookkeeping, transcription, social media management, document formatting, editing, proofreading, concierge services and author and speaker support.

So, instead of engaging a full time bookkeeper, social media marketer and editor, you can instead work with three experienced VAs at the same time, all of whom will provide specialised assistance to you, freeing up your time so that you can concentrate on providing value to your clients.  If there are tasks that you need completed that I am not able to assist you with, I have at my disposal a large network of experienced VAs I can connect you with.

VAs in Australia, such as myself, have the option of joining a reputable network, and becoming “Reference Checked VAs” via those networks.

How does a VA differ from a staff member?

VAs are self-employed business owners.  This means they take care of their own Workers’ Compensation, Superannuation, Sick Leave and other entitlements so you don’t have to.

How do I communicate with my VA?

Your VA is at the end of the phone! You and your VA will be in regular contact via phone, email and often task management software.  Some VAs also provide onsite visits as part of their packages.

But I hear horror stories about business owners who have worked with overseas VAs – how do I make sure that this doesn’t happen?

There are a number of advantages of working with an experienced Australian VA.  As mentioned above, there are reputable VA networks in Australia.  VAs who belong to these networks, including me, have the opportunity to become Reference Checked which provides you with peace of mind.

Working with an Australian VA means you’re working with someone in or near your own time zone.  So, when issues/tasks arise during business hours you can rest easy knowing your VA will be available when you need them most.

Are you ready to reclaim your time?

I look forward to speaking with you further about how I can work with you to reclaim your time, so that you can get back to working on the tasks that you enjoy and that will add value to your clients.  Please follow this link to book a complementary half-hour consultation with me so we can discuss which subscription package is the best fit for you and your business.
